Teamfreeform has developed a certification program designed to give you the edge in the fitness industry. Today’s trainers and instructors must be on top of their game in order to deal with private clients and gym members alike. Head Coach Lee Shabaka understands how important this is because he has spent over 15 years working in the fitness industry, starting up several boxing and kickboxing programs in New York’s top health clubs. During that time he has witnessed boxing and kickboxing grow from a specialty class to a regular training course on most gym schedules.
But the truth is that many instructors teaching these classes don't have a complete understanding of what they’re doing or why they are doing it…my friends, this is not good. Many often teach an aerobic workout and pass it off as a boxing workout. Many of the techniques they teach will never be performed by an authentic boxer. The training concept with most class trainers is simple: don’t worry about form and technique, “just keep your arms and legs moving.”
But what does one do when one comes across clients and members who’ve outgrown that type of training? Or who may have acquired a trained eye from previous “authentic boxing” workouts? You’ll have to raise the bar and that’s where we come in.
